Far exceeding its projected goals within the first two years, Smarter Systems offers comprehensive, high-quality installation, service, and training for a wide range of major AV solutions projects.
A native Carolinian, Ned discovered his competitive love of the corporate environment at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte while accomplishing a degree in Business Management with concentrations in Entrepreneurship and International Business at the Belk College of Business. Noticed quickly by founder Barry Whaling at Smarter Systems for his work ethic and go-getting attitude, Ned graduated from business school, married his wife Mary, and embarked on his career within the space of one week.
And the rest is history. Ned melded his love of business and technology by joining Smarter Systems on the burgeoning installation team and quickly ascended the ranks to become the top performing education sales professional in the organization. Teamed with a company that is as fresh, forward-thinking, and ambitious as he is, Ned successfully lead the education sales team until taking the role of President and CEO of Smarter Systems in September of 2013. With the respect and enthusiastic support of his colleagues, Ned has his sights set on making Smarter Systems the premier AV solutions provider in the region for excellence and quality of experience.
Chief Sales Officer
Lori entered the hospitality industry directly upon graduating from East Carolina University where she earned a degree in Hospitality Management and Business Administration in 2001. Lori’s obvious penchant for exceeding customer expectations, driving sales, and managing large teams with disparate skill sets afforded her the opportunity to cross industries into a keys sales role within a staff augmentation firm (Accrue Partners) in Charlotte and with a boutique consulting firm (NouvEON/Pactera). Lori adapted to a steep learning curve, learning to sell IT, Accounting, and Finance Consulting Services and quickly becoming the top performing sales person within each company.
Lori currently holds a key leadership position at Smarter Systems heading the corporate business development efforts. Lori is responsible for determining custom interactive collaboration solutions for Tier 1 clients throughout the United States and leading the delivery of these solutions to ensure excellence.
When not taking the corporate sales world by storm, Lori enjoys cheering on her East Carolina Pirates with her husband Andrew, following her favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals, and chasing down her 3-year-old son Brody.
Chief Technical Officer
After majoring in Business Administration at High Point University, Bill managed the video production department at Piedmont Airlines. Having cut his teeth in the AV industry, and with a penchant for entrepreneurship, Bill founded an AV integration firm which he sold successfully after seven years in business. Bill ventured out from the AV industry for several years for a bigger picture treatment of communications, serving as senior sales manager in a regional communications manufacturing firm in Winston-Salem, NC.
Smarter Systems recruited Bill to re-enter the collaboration technology industry as the company’s Systems Manager in 2008, and his indespensable leadership and proven technical expertise lead to his appointment as the firm’s Chief Technical Officer in the fall of 2013. He is responsible for AV system designs and works closely with the Smarter Systems sales and installation teams as well as owners, architects, and allied trades on needs assessments, design, and project management.
Bill is an elder at Reynolda Church in Winston-Salem, NC and lives in Advance, NC with his wife, Jennifer and their three children.
